11 weeks and 6 days and started getting brown discharge

Hi there, I just need some help to put my mind at ease as have been worried about this as had nothing up until last thursday and then have had brown discharge everyday since, up to 4 times a day. Scan is this thursday and it really can't come quick enough! Just want to hear baby's heartbeat and know it is all okay!

Hi have you got a local Early pregnancy unit you can contact just to put your mind at rest.

Hi Jard32. I had a similar experience except I had heavy bleeding and brown discharge in the few days leading up to my 12 week scan. I went to A & E who said everything was normal and the scan said the same. Sometimes women bleed during pregnancy for no apparent cause so unless you're getting cramps too or feel ill then I wouldn't worry about it. Though you could go to A & E for some extra reassurance. They'll do an internal exam to see if your cervix is closed (mine was) but otherwise the best way to tell is at the scan itself. Good luck!

it's quite common to get some spotting around the times your period would have been due. I had it around the 8 week mark and DD is now nearly 10 months old. :)

Thanks for your responses.....the spotting seems to have stopped now so I am feeling positive! Not too long now to the scan so should be. I know we are all different and every pregnancy differs but it is reassuring to know I am not alone!! x

I am 14 weeks and got similar discharge a couple of days ago and also have moderate vaginal pains a few times per day. I am extremely worried about all this as I have other high risk conditions. I am waiting to hear back from my doctor. Will report findings.

I had one instance of dark spotting last week when I was 11+5 (marks in gusset, nothing upon wiping). I rang my midwife and she said that the placenta beds itself in properly in week 11 and it often dislodges a bit of old blood. I've had no further probs and am still feeling preggo-awful at 12+3, so am not worried at all. Sounds like yours was something similar. Good luck with the scan - mine is next Monday :)

Jard32, I too had brown spotting and found it quite worrying as on holiday at time and couldn't get anywhere to check it out. Am now 19 weeks and all scans have been fine. It's a worrying time but I'm sure it will be fine, good luck.

Jard32, I just heard back from my doctor -- said not to worry moderate amounts of discharge and mild uterine pains are totally normal. I am due for a scan in 4 weeks and just had one last week which was ok...

Hi Jard32, I also had brown spotting at around 10/11 weeks, and, just to be on the safe side, went to see my midwife who immediately made an appointment at my local EPU, as my dating scan wasn't for another fortnight. We went along for the scan a few days later (like you, the spotting had stopped by then), and all seemed well, even found out I was a week ahead of schedule pushing me past 12 weeks.

I'd advise you to make a quick call to your GP surgery/midwife, just to get their advice, if only to put your mind at rest. Hope it all goes well.

I had brown discharge at 4.5 weeks, then at 8ish weeks, then 11 weeks. All was fine till the day I was 12 weeks, and I had bright red blood. I just about collapsed on the floor, it terrified me so much (after 2 previous MCs).
Anyway, I'm now 38 weeks - it happens. :)

Wow, thank you all so much for your responses! Had the scan yesterday and everything is fine!!! It was amazing and found out we were 3 days further along than though. We got married on 21 August, and so now we think it was a wedding night baby rather than a honeymoon baby. It's so exciting, but so scary too as everything is so new when you are pregnant for the first time.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and i am seeing brown since Tuesday and it via still coming brown.
I have my scan and u can wait.
Thus is my first pregnancy.
