How many weeks before due date should I leave work?

Does anyone have any idea of a good time to leave work, before due date? I was thinking about two weeks, but is that leaving it too late? I imagine I will have quite a lot to do before the wee one comes along (this is my first), so maybe I should be making it 3 weeks, in case it is one week early?

Hi buttercup, I am also a solicitor but work inhouse and not in London. I am currently proposing to work until 38 weeks but I think I might pull the pin earlier. I am currently 32 weeks and feel pretty good but getting quite tired. I might just reduce my days to 3-4 days for the last couple of weeks by using annual leave.

I don't really see any point in pushing myself and I have annual leave to use up. My main concern was being bored but I honestly think I will be able to entertain myself with movies, facials, cleaning, organising the house and sleeping. I could sleep until 10 or 11am at the moment so I imagine this will eat into my day.

I would give your firm a date you intend to finish but just make it clear this depends on how you feel at the time. This is what I have done.
