Adamant that my due date is wrong!

Longed winded, really sorry but I think that my due date is out by almost 2 weeks! Firstly because I remember my period starting on the night of my work's Christmas party and I thought "arggh this is so typical!" so that was the 11th December 2009. Following that I used an ovulation calculator to predict when I would be most fertile which was the 22nd-27th December and I made sure I wore out my OH for most of that week! Which would mean an EDD of the 17th September and not the 28th September which I have been given. The 28th would mean my period started on the 22nd December which isn't right!

I'm aware that these things are not an exact science and EDD's are never really accurate anyway but now that my little man is measuring big for his dates and my measurements are coming back large for dates I can't help wondering it's because he's coming sooner than they think. Plus I have to go through the fuss of yet another GTT.

Has anyone else been in this position and did you actually go early?

I'm a firstborn and I was 10 days early...and my friend's first child was two weeks early. Afraid you can't generalise about when babies will be born!

Thanks for all your messages :) I think I'm just going to stay close to home from the 17th onwards, luckily my maternity leave starts a week before and I'm all prepared already!

I'm not convinced either way by online ovulation calculators but something must have been on our side for me to tap in the 11th Dec and get the right dates to have sex and then conceive straight away. I just count myself very lucky :).

I'm not overly concerned when he turns up late or early because of how I?m feeling, I just want to make sure he?s ok as his wellbeing is my only priority.

Thank you for taking the time to respond I really appreciate it

x

hellenaCC sorry I only got a chance to log on here today.

My due date was right, ds came 2 days after it, which meant I was 41 weeks plus 3 days. The scan one was for more than a week earlier than my calculations. I wasn't very scientific about it, I just know when I ovulate, I knew the day the embryo implanted, it happened with dd also (on that day I get a sudden intense smell from something like a barely opened milk carton from the other side of the room for a few minutes, like my smell dial has gone disgustingly way up before settling again, and I know that's it, I'm pregnant). So I figured it from there. I always keep track of periods etc and had the 1st day of last period. The scan date would have meant I would have had to be pregnant when I hadn't even ovulated.

I really didn't want to be induced and not too early, once or twice dh got worried and I told him there weren't two dues date just one (mine!)and I would have been more worried to get my baby going too soon. The ob's I saw trusted me as it turned out I gave birth on the last Wednesday that I had an oppointment that was finally going to have the induction talk again!

I knew my dates very accurately (was just waiting to start IVF and, under the circumstances there was only one date that could have resulted in conception - and got +ve hpt 3 days before my appointment for the IVF). Because of my history I had a scan at 6wks, and again at 9wks... the first was I think one day out - and the nine week one was 3 days out (ie ds was measuring 3 days too big at 9wks...). My first midwife appointment was at 10wks - she worked it out with some sort of date disc - and got it wrong - too early. I had a subsequent appointment with a midwife at the hospital and she corrected the EDD to one that was reasonable - althoguh it didn't accord with the dates I knew, or the scan dates.... DS arrived 1wk early (and he was my first).

I was a first, and born on my EDD.

Mind you, that was in the days before scans where they just stuck their finger at random in the calendar and said "Mrs Jones your baby is due on the 31st of September, as far as we or anyone else can guess" Wink

My first was born 3 days before her EDD, but I was a third baby and was 3 weeks late (lazy ass that I am). They come when they're ready. I take an EDD as an estimate and just keep my fingers crossed that this one will come just before then so I'm not waiting uncomfortably.

I think statistically more firsts are born late but few arrive on their due date.

According to my scan, I conceived 3 days before my last (heavy) period, and 10 days before I had unprotected sex for the first time... if they've given me an EDD that's 10 days early, will they try and induce me before baby's ready?
