Erm... Is this normal?

DS is 2 years 7 months. He has recently toilet trained and apart from the odd little accident when he is deeply engrossed in something everything is going well.

We've been putting him in a nappy at night time but it's been dry ever since he started using the loo in the day and he appears to have trained himself to not pee at night. He is also removing his nappy in the night and flinging it out of bed or using it as a pillow....

Is it strange to be completely dry at 2.7? My DD remained wet at night for a long time after then so I am just suspicious that something is not right. Should I just thank my lucky stars that DS appears to be part-camel and can hold his pee all night or do I worry?

Ds (a year older than your ds) is still in a nappy at night and so are about 3/4 of his wee friends. However, two of his friends, one boy, one girl were out of nappies entirely from just turned 2.

Apparently it is something to do with a hormone they produce so they'll just do it when theyre ready and theyre able to produce the hormone rather than it being a developmental thing if that makes sense? Dont know if thats true.

So long as he isnt dehydrated and isnt struggling to pee any other time then Id just be grateful!

He's very big for his age so physically he's probably more mature than his years so it stands to reason that the hormones would be there "early" doesn't it?

My DS was v similar. Tried potty training at 2.0 - it was hopeless and upsetting. Different story at 2.8- He went dry & clean from day one. I kept him in a pull up at night for a further six months but it was always dry so stopped that. He has never had a wet bed, ever. We are just lucky I guess. He's 8 now and has the bladder capacity of a horse- it's usually me looking for the loo when we're out and about not him! Not being smug btw. Wish it was so easy to get him to do homework/pick his clothes up/realise PS3 is not a basic human right and you can survive a day without it.

DS did it at 2.3. Just wish DD was the same. Nearly 3 and no sign of being dry at night yet....

DS is 2.1 and dry in the day and, largely, dry at night.

He is, too, large and physically well developed for his age.

Ds was dry in the day from 23mo and I think (fingers crossed and touching all wood in sight) he has just become dry at night, he is 6 in two weeks.

Dd was dry in the day from 19mo and at night from 23mo.

They are all different and as has been said wrt nightime it is when they get a hormone (that I can never remember the name of).

DD was the same. As soon as she was dry in the day (around 2.3) she started taking the nappy off at night saying it itched! Happy days, we've only had a couple of accidents since - be glad the nappies are gone!
