Why do they find doing a poo on the potty so scary?

DD is just beginning training and the other day she ripped of her nappy and started doing a poo (not on potty but on floor) and she was crying with fear. Why? I NEVER chastise her for having accidents.

DS used to ask me if it would hurt.

He was promised a whole packet of buttons and a sticker for pooing on the potty. Did the trick!

I think its because they arent used to the feeling of it coming away from there body....in nappies its all contained right there against them so doesnt feel the same.

She obv.knows when she needs to poo which is a good sign, hopefully after a few goes on the potty, lots of praise and some rewards she'll soon forget all about her fear
