Which potty?

I would like to get a potty or two for DD so that she can start getting used to them before we think about full on training and just wondered what potties people would recomend?

DD wouldn't go near the potty until we got a 'potty chair' then was more than happy to sit on it!

We had a 99p one from Morrisons. Was great and saw me through two children.

The baby bjorn one is fab for younger children because of it's size, most other ones have a hold that's too big for small bums and seem to hurt. DD has used it since 9 months old and is still fine on at 2 1/2.'tis favoured by EC-ers.

Thanks everyone, a good range of choices there - I will get shopping. Might check out the baby bjorn as DD is on the small side.

DrivenToDistraction What is an EC-er? Sorry for being slow on the uptake...!

EC = elimination communication. Cues given by the baby are read by the parents to avoid the use of nappies. Very interesting stuff. Here.

I didn't do EC myself but used a lot of the tips when I started giving DC access to the potty (from the time they could sit).

We used an ikea one, which was great because it had quite a wide base and good height so it didn't topple easily (also they're cheap).

Ah was just about to say don't get the Ikea ones! My DD found it very uncomfortable and refused to use it. Perhaps she was being a fussy bugger then

Mothercare ones have a wide base and shallow bit for the wee so my DD gets a really wet bum as she sinks in.
We got a Boots one as it's narrower and deeper for more wee and she doesn't struggle to get her legs either side.

We picked all our son's potties before until his fancy one started to leak recently. So we enrolled him to pick his own potty this time and funnily enough, he went for the cheapest tiny little Boots potty. DH and I shook our heads thinking it's too small and was never going to work but one week on we are still astonished how brilliant the potty is, small+compact, comfortable, easy to clean, no 'boy' sprays/leaks. DS loves the potty so much he's not had any accidents since we got the potty.
