My DP thinks it is odd/unusual that our DD empties her potty contents into the toilet after use.

I just think it's another way of teaching them to tidy up after themselves.

It cant be very hygenic leaving it lying surely?

I think that it's great, and helps her to get the idea of using the toilet too, surely?

Well done to your DD.

I would probably wash the potty out myself though, to make sure it is done properly.

DD2 used to do this - just being helpful (and usually making a mess in the process!). Now she's 3 we have ditched the potty and just have a seat for the toilet so much less mess!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/06/2010 15:13

DD does it quite often (although not always).

DD did do this (though messy)with a happy 'bye-bye' not really a problem though.

quite normal, my dd 3 is potty training and does this, another way to help them make associations. She empties the potty and says bye bye wee wee and flushes the toilet.

My ds2 was doing the same at that age too.Ok most of the time, the contents went on the floor as he missed the toilet, but the thought and effort was there.

Normal - but why not get her to use the loo? Never really understood potties!

madamebovine · 23/06/2010 21:51

Eugh mine did this but would make such a mess. We tried to encourage her to use the toilet instead. After wrestling a poo/wee filled potty (IT'S MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE MUMMY) I just couldn't bear it any more. She does prefer the toilet anyway so it's win win!

Arghhhhh.....

I have just started sitting my DTs (both boys) on the potty once a day to get them used to the idea.

They both feel the need to empty every single dribble into the toilet. So they sit down ... produce a few drops ... carry the potty while laughing histerically to the loo to empty it ... sit down ... do another dribble etc etc.

It is driving me mad.

I would love to go straight to the toilet and forget the whole potty thing - but with two that would be impossible as they would be fighting for turns which is not very relaxing.

My DD loves emptying the potty contents into the toilet. It's fun for her.
