Help.

My DD turns 2 in August and has been in pull-up pants since she learned how to take off her trousers and tabbed nappies about six months ago.

She has now figured out pulling down the pants. Great, think I, so she's almost ready for potty training, especially since she's usually dry between getting up in the morning and going down for her nap at lunch time. Didn't want to rush her so we got a potty which sits around the house (in her bedroom when she's napping, in the bathroom at all other times) and have been gently encouraging her to sit on it; initially with clothes on but now she likes to take them off to sit.

But she won't do anything in the potty. Or on the toilet, although she sits very calmly on her seat and reads a book or has some juice. She just doesn't seem to be making the connection yet between sitting on a potty or toilet and actually going.

What she does do (today was the third time, and the second day in a row) is poo in her pull-up pants within half an hour of being put down for her lunch time nap (tried varying the time, doesn't make any difference), then take off her trousers and pants and empty the poo out on the floor. Then she calls us (and she does know the word) to come and clean up). Today she did seem to have tried to put it in the potty, so I think she's progressing, but most of it went on the carpet. I let her watch me clean up so she could see that it was being put in the toilet, and she flushed it away, which led to lots of laughing and clapping and "all gone!" from her.

I had no intention of toilet training her this early, and if she was willing to stay in nappies I'd have no problem with it, but I just don't know how long I can keep this up. She does also strip off all her clothes and wee on the floor, the bed, the sofa...anywhere but the potty. I work from early afternoon until late at night and getting time off is next to impossible at the moment, so the whole "take a week and blitz it" thing isn't really an option. DH looks after her in the afternoons so if someone can tell me this is normal, she's just ready and we have to just knuckle down and follow her round the house naked with a potty for a couple of weeks, I think we could manage that. We're moving in about a month so it would be great to have this solved before we get to a new rented house with new carpets...

Normal but I reckon she's a bit too young, too

I dont think she sounds like she's ready at all tbh. I dont know what you can do about her taking things off though!
