Potty training day 2 - developed rash

Hello, has anyone else experienced this? DD (2.2) is on 2nd day of no nappies. She is going bare bum or in knickers when she wants to wear them and it's going pretty well - a fair few wees on floor but many more wees and poos either in potty or in toilet. She seems happy to sit on potty for a stretch of time if she's instigated it, but also seems to be waiting until DH or I have left the room then going on her potty and coming to tell us.

Anyway, I noticed this afternoon she's developed a red rash of spots on both bum cheeks. She's never had a rash like that before. Could she have reacted to the knickers or potty? Any accidents have been cleared up immediately so she's not been in wet knickers or anything. Not sure what to do about it other than sudocream. Her knickers are cheapie packs from supermarket so they can be chucked if she poos in them. She's never had allergic reaction to anything, and she has been sitting on her potty on and off for weeks now.

Could it be carpet burns?

My DD had exactly the same for a few weeks after we started potty traing. I put it down to the fact that her bum was just out more and being rubbed on the carpet, grass, and anywhere else she sat. It cleared up by itself, and the skin on her bum doesn't feel as soft as it used to.

Thanks for responses. Never though of carpet burns bumbums...could be.

That's interesting, grapesandmoregrapes, I'll try not to worry too much about it. Making me nostalgic now for her lovely soft dimply baby bum!
