Previously trained 3 year old now wetting constantly, help please!

My 36 month old dd has been fully toilet trained for 10 months, but about 3 weeks ago she suddenly started wetting herself regularly - even if she'd been to the potty recently. She has stopped asking to go to the potty entirely and won't tell me when she's wet.

Nothing has changed at home or in daycare and otherwise she seems really happy. I have tried talking to her about it and she says that the peepee just comes out and looks upset. I thought it was a phase and if I was supportive and encouraged her back on to the potty it would help but it's made no difference. Today we're already on her 4th set of underwear and I'm getting so frustrated and just don't know what to do. I also don't want to be forever nagging at her about it because it's horrible for both of us.

Any advice please?

I hadn't thought about a urine infection but actually now you say it, it could be. She had scarlet fever a week ago, but this problem has been going on for longer. Maybe the bacteria that causes scarlet fever has been in her system longer. Certainly worth checking out, thanks.

One thing is she had penicillin for the scarlet fever and I would have thought that would have also managed any urinary infection? But yes I will get her checked asap.

My 2 and a half year old is exactly the same - she was potty trained at Christmas, and has been dry for weeks. Frustratingly she only seems to have all these accidents at nursery or when I'm not around. At home she tells me if she needs a wee but at nursery she's had up to five accidents in a day including pooing in her knickers. She loves nursery and has a close relationship with the nannies so I'm not sure what's wrong.

I could have written your post OP, in fact I came on here to post something very similar.

DD aged 3.6 has been dry since last May (apart from the odd accident, ie if out in public and not near a toilet) However suddenly, in the last few weeks she has started having accidents. She has had 3 at nursery in the last week or so and had another one today when I picked her up from nursery.
Took her to the gp last week about something else but mentioned the accidents and they said maybe a UTI as she was sore 'down there' a few weeks ago but has recently been 'exploring' as the doctor put it. Have been trying for the past few days to get her to week in a pot so they can test but she refuses.

Am at my wits end as she is normally dry at night even though in pull ups and if she keeps having accidents she won't be able to go to 'big' school with her friends in September. Her assessment is in less than a month and the nursery have said they will have to tell if any more accidents.

We have been to the doctor, no urine infection which is good but she was a bit constipated which can also cause kids to pee due to the pressure. This is now cleared up perfectly though and we still have lots of accidents. Funnily enough she goes to the potty for poo despite being a bit constipated.

We are travelling in a couple of days, long train journey and then a flight which I'm dreading because I don't think I can manage with her not being able to control her peeing. Am thinking about pull ups just for the journey but I don't know if that'll make it worse in the long run.

We actually have the opposite problem from you NatterBee in that in day care she only wets maybe once and at home it can be eight times. They are very relaxed about it though and maybe that helps her too. Maybe I am stressing her.

I actually have no idea what to do now other than to try to relax and not give her attention when she wets (other than to change her of course). I hope things are going better for overseesmumscantvote and NatterBee - I feel your pain!
