Hi,

Please can anyone offer any reassurance. I had been potty training DD only for 8 days and at the start she was doing maybe 8 wee's and 1 poo a day.

Everything was going well until she had to go to nursery last week and she had little accidents there.

Now although she has not had any accidents for the last 3 days she is only having a wee twice or max 3 times a day.

I am worried she is trying to keep it in or incase she gets an urine infection or something.

I am really worried and have tried giving her more liquids so she has to go more that twice.

Has anyone else experienced this or has any other advice.

Thanks

xx

How many times is she weeing over 24 hours? Is it dark/smelly wee?

It could just be that she has a bladder as strong as an ox; like my girls.

Why do you think she would be trying to avoid using the potty? Is she upset about something?

I found that there were a lot more wees in the first week of training than subsequently, at first they never seem to be off the potty.

I think it's probably because in a nappy they are just used to going 'little and often' because there is no reason to do anything else. As they potty train they get used to holding on till they've got a fuller bladder.

In the absence of any worrying symptoms I'd say that's probably all that's happening.

She still has a nappy for bed so hard to say how many times but a heavy wet nappy in the morning.

Her wee is rather strong looking no matter what time of day.

I think because she wet herself at nursery and cried that maybe she was trying to hold it in.

Belgo how old is your little one? Mine is 2.4 years. So is it ok to only go a few times?

Cider can you remember how many times? As you say she seems to be ok but but too young to tell me otherwise.

my girls are now four and six but I remember when dd2 was quite young, she hardly seemed to need the toilet.

Just make sure water is available for her to drink at all times, and the potty/toilet are easily accessible. And tell her well done every time she uses the toilet.

I can't see that there is much more you can do at the moment.

Thanks Belgo - doing all of above.Maybe i just need to chill out about it and prehaps first few days was a one off as the potty was a novelty!

After all if she ens up only going 3 times a day and she is fit and well that is not such a bad thing. xx

I think 3 times a day and a full nappy at night sounds about right, as long as she seems happy and healthy.

Remember they've got nice new pelvic floors and bladders, not like us

heee you have a point there!
