Potty Training - am I doing it right???

Hi.

On day 3 of potty training my son who's 2 1/4. He been using potty/toilet for months randomly to get used to it and loves it. Went cold turkey on Tuesday and have no nappies at all (only for sleep) and wearing pants. He had 3 accidents for the first 2 days and 1 so far today. I seem to be asking him constantly if he needs a wee/poo and tell him to go to the potty to try. He had 11 successful visits on day 1 and 13 yesterday. It's such a lot!!

He doesn't really tell me if he wants to go. He has started to take his pants off and head to potty and I then help and he has a wee on it. But he doesn't say he needs one.

Haven't left the house for 3 days and getting serious cabin fever - so is he as we're always out and about!

Please give me advice. Am I doing it right? When can I attempt to leave the house? What do I do in the car (don't want a wet car seat!!)

Thanks

We went to a local park today. DS did a wee in the potty.
Then, did a No.2 in his shorts.
Got him on potty, behind the pushchair. Then had to clean potty!!! and change into pants and shorts, quickly before anyone saw.
And continued.
I think its not too difficult so long as you're just planning on lazing about in the sun and can bear to hide behind the pushchair when necessary!!!

Thanks. He actually went onto the potty for a no 2 when I was in the kitchen making dinner. I was very impressed as he'd taken his pants off too! Am going to venture out tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!

Isn't it amazing! You feel like shouting out of the windows "My child can take off his pants, he is such a big grown up boy!!!" It is a major step towards independence isn't it?

I know! I can't believe how quickly we've got to this stage!! They grown up so fast!! Have ventured to mums house and he's done really well. Just had a wee on her toilet. No accidents yet today!! Hope your day's going well.
