I ask because with both DS's I have had different approaches.

DS1 I had him dry day and night by around 16/17m. However his speach was far more advanced than DS2's.

DS2 is training himself. In as much as he asks me to take his nappy off in the morning and will use the toilet the whole time but the second i say we are going out he gets me a nappy. He won't wear pants.

I am happy with this tbh and it is all much more relaxed than with DS1.

Just after opinions what if any is the right way?

Sounds like you've done what was right for each child, which sounds perfect.

As you say your first was speaking and you were able to have him dry day and night comparitively early!

I'm happy that PT should be child led, which is why I'm glad that I waited for my DS who although I've been showing him what to do for a while and sometimes give him the opportunity, i.e. naked time, he only just grabbed the opportunity and seems ready to train himself too.

MDS, I am just nosey and also fed up with some people i know in RL saying my approach with DS2 is the lazy way out.

DOM, DS1 was talking much clearer earlier than DS2. DS2 speaks very well now but at the same age I could hold a decent conversation with DS1....I have gone wrong somewhere with DS2 lol
