My DS2 is 2.7 old and have been trying to introduce potty to him for a while, he's just not been interested wont sit on it and just pushes it away. Decided to take the plunge and attempt PT over the Easter holidays as have another son at school and thought pt and the school run would be a nightmare. What advice would you give have bought the Potty training for boys book which says take it slowly and have sessions which last an hour or two over four weeks with my DS1 I used Gina Ford and that worked really well although had a nightmare with him regressing. DS2 is starting the school nursery in October and has to be dry by then. Should I just go for it and bin the nappies for good?
Any advice would be welcomed even though this is my second child but he really is different to my first!

Dont have two DC so my thoughts would be based on one - hope thats ok.

Have you tried the training seat rather than a potty? If he sees your DS1 doing it on the toilet, he might want to imitate that. Also if he has any fave characters like Thomas, there are training seats for those.

Try and get him to see your DS1 on the toilet and then tell him its only grown up boys that do that and would he like to be just like his big brother?

White Choc buttons were a great saviour for me - my DD (2.2 yrs) produced for those.

If you are going to go ahead, I would say go cold turkey and only use nappies at nap/sleep times.

PS I am no expert and am only on Day 7 of my PT.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks for the advice, yesterday after a while he kept dry with new big boy pants on indoors and then I sat him on the potty and he did a wee! which I went mad about clapping and kissing him choc buttons defo help as well.

And this morning saw a poo was coming just before we left for school so sat him on the potty and he did a poo!

Have put a sticker on the bottom of the potty which shows a cow face when it gets wet with wee because of the heat, he loves that!

Have decided to go cold turkey on Monday and only put nappies for bedtime. let's hope it goes ok but feel no going back now.

Good luck with your PT as well.

That is brilliant!! Slowly but surely he will get there - now that he knows what he needs to do with the potty and what his reward will be.

Its Day 8 for me today and have dropped her to nursery to see if she will do for nursery what she does for me - going for wees of her own accord. Fingers crossed...
