Potty at the park?

Day 2 of potty training my 2.10yr DS. Has been going amazingly well. He does need prompts at times but is also going on potty unprompted lots too.

DH took him to the park today. Wanted him tired cos will be going to bed an hour early with time change. He took the potty but DS had a wee in pants. He didn't tell my DH. He then sat on potty in park and did wee.

Was it just too soon to have left the house? How long do I stay in? And what do I do about supermarket shop and other necessary outings?

Going to be afraid to leave house!

I'm sure some Mum's will say that I'm completely wrong about this, but for the first few days, I actually put DD back into nappies just when we left the house for shopping etc. She was not at all confused about when she was wearing nappies or pants and never had an accident due to the changes. It just gave us a little extra peace of mind in the very start when she was first learning.

You'll always have accidents, you just need to put him on the potty every half an hour. So before you go, then in the park. And take a couple of changes of clothes.

If you are going on a long car journey, I used trainer pants.

You will have accidents...but I always booked a week at home so we could get sorted, and it worked with my 3. In the supermarket, you have to be prepared to abandon your trolley and rush to the loo. I had to do this with DS1 when we were at the check out. {blush]

I'm in the same boat. DD's semi potty trained but I want to finally get rid of the nappies (except for night time) over Easter while I've got a bit of time off.

I took DD to Sainsbury's today with no nappy on and I was terrified that she was going to wet herself but she was fine .

I started on the monday and did toddler groups/trip out on the bus, etc etc - I thought dc 2.3 would have to get used to potty training out and about instead of getting used to potty training at home and then out and abouts.

DS probably had lots of things to distract him from the potty training.
