Ds is 2.7, we introduced a potty a couple of months ago in a low key way, and now if he doesn't have a nappy on, he will do all his wees in it (standing up over it) He never has accidents, it's always either in the potty or a nappy.

He isn't massively well developed speech wise, but he can say nappy on, nappy off, wee wee, poo poo and "potty, where aaaare you?" but he doesn't ever tell me he needs a wee or a poo, my only clues are if he goes looking for the potty (wee) or if he clutches his bum and asks for a nappy on (poo)

I'm a bit lost about where we go from here, I can't usually get him to sit down on the potty at all, and even in a nappy he's always liked privacy to poo, so he goes upstairs or in another room to do it.

I have bought a toilet seat and step, but last time I tried to get him to sit there he cried. This was about a month ago.

Yesterday he asked me to take his nappy off so he could wee in the potty, which is progress.

We tried putting underpants on him but he didn't like them and would just pee in them instantly anyway. Wondering about using pullups but would he just use them like (very bloomin expensive) normal nappies?

Aaargh! someone advise me please

Get him a step-stool so he can wee in the toilet.

Thanks, yeah he's got a step, but because he won't sit on the potty he also wouldn't sit on the loo. Maybe because he always sees his dad peeing standing up? We'll just have to try again.

I meant let him pee standing up. My DS has been peeing standing up since he was about 18 months old. He only misses if he has an erection while trying to wee or if he's sitting down.

Oh I see, sorry. I don't mind him peeing standing up because obviously that's the end result you want anyway, and he's a pretty good aim so far.

I don't know how to get him to sit down and poo on a potty/toilet though, he won't entertain the idea of doing it anywhere except a nappy, he's a bit poo-phobic.
