DD is 2.4 and quite bright, picks things up easily etc. But also stubbon and very much knows her own mind.

I had always thought that when it came to things like potty training, i would just wait until she told me she didn't want to wear nappies anymore, and go from there.

Now that we have DC2 on the way, due in August, i am feeling the pressure to potty train DD. But she is really not interested.

So do i continue and not leave the house for the foreseable future, or do i just stick to the original plan despite having a newborn?

TBH, i am not desperate to get her out of nappies, just that i feel i should iyswim?

Stick to the original plan imo! I have 3 dcs and left them all to their own devices and it's been a doddle. DD1 was 2.2, DD2 was 2.10 and DS is just dry now at 2.10. All were dry 80% of the time in the day after about 2 days.

Thank you, this is what my gut instinct is telling me. She is just too smart to fall for the chocolate buttons bribery, she just goes and helps herself and then sits on the potty. I don't feel that she is being potty trained if i am making her sit on the potty for ages til she does something.

i tried with ds 20month but gave up after three days of crawling round heavily pg cleaning up spills. Finally using potty at 2.5 when dd was 5 months much more manageable.

I'd stick to the original plan - you might make some progress (my DD also stubborn, so I'm inclined to think you might not...) and the arrival of the new baby might throw a spanner in the works anyway!
