2.6mths, has sat on potty a few times but not consistently, never done a wee in one yet. I put this down to being forced by the in-laws to sit on a potty too early (without my knowledge!!!) because they thought he "should be trained by 2"! This has all stopped now! Potty around the house but not interested in it almost avoids it.

Knows when he is having a wee and poo and happy to tell me but hangs on for both until nappy is on and very unhappy about not having nappy on at all. He's not a kid that likes naked.

My gut is telling me he's almost ready and just give it a go. Have bought pants with pictures that he chose, explained pants=no nappy and big boys all wear pants etc etc! All he said was "no mummy".

I have 2weeks at easter otherwise i'll have to wait tll summer hols (july) before I will have the time to give attention to it?

Advice please!

look at it long term.

he wont be 18 and in nappies.

it will come - don't sweat it.

I'm in a similar predicament. My DS is 2.10yrs and has had a few random goes on potty and caught a few things in there. I tried to start a potty before bath routine but he started saying no thanks after a few nights.

I've read a couple of things on here and it sounds like at the stage our boys are at we may just have to bite the bullet and go for it.

I was going to wait for him to ask to use the potty but not sure I can wait that long! He does any where from 3 to 8 poos a day and it drives me nuts sometimes!

They say we should just plan to stay at home for three days and expect lots of messes!

I'm going to try it next weekend once we're back from our hols. Will keep you posted!

I would say he's ready, except that he's got a phobia. (i.e. gets in a flap if doesn't have a nappy.) Talk about it nonchalantly, talk about how poo is much less messy if done in the toilet, and that any time he wants to have a go weeing standing up like Dad or pooing on the toilet like everybody, he can.
