My DD is 22 mths old and just this last weekend has done her first wee on the potty.

Previously she has shown an interest in the potty (for about 2 or 3 months) and sat on it but not produced anything.

She is aware when she has done a poo in her nappy and has been asking to be changed afterwards. She also asks to do a wee on the potty and was dry the other day when she did her first one.

I know she is very young and I don't want to rush her and put her off so what I am asking is should I just carry on as we are going and ask her if she wants to use the potty every now and then during the day, still keeping her in nappies until I am ready to start properly?

Also what happens with nursery when I start potty training properly?

Congratulations on the first wee-in-a-potty!

I am in a similar position - my DD is 20 months, we currently ask her if she needs a wee or poo when we change her nappy, when we get up and when it's bathtime in the evening, and she is doing lots of wees on the potty and the occasional poo. However, this is almost always when we ask her if she needs a wee / poo, and she very rarely tells us that she needs the potty.

Like you, I don't want to rush it at all (was expecting potty training to happen after her 2nd birthday!) but DD seems to think its fun, and its certainly nicer changing fewer nappies! She is also in nappies all the time.

Like you, I am wondering "what now?"!

So, I don't have any advice, but I will watch the thread with interest!

Thanks for your reply. I am wondering if I should try pullups as an intermediate thing as she is resisting lying down to have her nappy put on and we can call them 'pants'. I know some people advise to skip the pullups altogether so a bit confused.
