Potty Training Tips Required!

DD1 is 3.2, we tried potty training about 6months ago when she was asking to use the potty but it was a complete disaster as she would sit on the potty for 15mins and then wee a couple of minutes later. Seemed to have no real idea of when she needed to go. I'm now going to give it another go over the Easter holidays when we have two weeks clear of preschool. So basically just need all the tips that you can provide to help try and help make this a success without it driving both of us to tears. Will also try DD2 1.9 at the same time as she seems so much more aware of what happens.

I'm sure many will disagree, but find a bribe that works. Stickers and smiley faces just didn't cut it for my DD (2.11 when we started). We used buttons for a wee, and fun-sized choc for a poo, and tokens towards a book for clean pants all day.

We only needed the bribes for a couple of weeks, and the new habits were then pretty well embedded.

Also my DD, although now very reliable 4 weeks on, took a while to get the whole concept. We gave lots of reminders, I washed lots of dirty pants and gritted my teeth. It took about 4 or 5 days just for her to get the idea of the whole thing.

She didn't have much idea of when she needed to go for the first two weeks, and so we did prompt a lot to begin with.
