my ds is 2.4 and has just done his very first poo on the toilet, whcih he seemed rather proud of. he has never shown any interest whatsoever in his potty and we have not yet bothered trying to potty train.
my first throught is should we now attempt to potty train as he must be about ready and secondly, do i really need to bother with a potty? can i go straight to one of those kids loo seats and go from there? is the baby bjorn one any good? my friend has one and thinks it is but if anyone else has any suggestions they'd be appreciated!

DS has done this (although not trained yet...that's another story)
Also refused to sit on a trainer seat, just kind of balances on the big seat. So far we've only had one "foot in the bowl" incident

We haven't used a potty at all with DS1. He goes straight on the toilet. He has done it at bathtimes and first thing in the morning for months, but we only did proper training recently.

I really didn't want to end up with DS1 sitting on the potty in the lounge for ages in front of the telly, especially with a dog. I also know people who had real trouble getting DC to use the toilet having been trained on a potty, so I decided I'd rather not bother.

DS1 is fine going to the actual loo for it and likes his Thomas toilet seat. We take it out with us as well to use in public toilets.

My DS went straight to the toilet. I think he was 2ish. He never had any interest in the potty really. I never got a kiddie loo seat, he was fine with the normal one.

We had a potty which DD loved at 1 and would sit on it before a bath - occasionally producing on it. However at 18 months she refused and demanded to sit on the toilet. We got her a padded seat with handles and she loves it. She is now 2 and doing well (although I am too scared to remove the nappies quite yet but come Easter we are taking the plunge!).
