hi all
DC1 started potty training after Xmas and did very well - a few days in there were some problems but we got over those very quickly.

DC1 went back to nursery in Jan and has had a few accidents which i'd expected and has now been mostly dry for nearly 2 months.

Yesterday we had 3 big accidents at home (though one was a messy poo so perhaps dodgy tummy?) and today we've just had a cuddle after his sleep, and i'd asked if a wee was needed - i got a big NO followed by a very big wee over me and the carpet.

I've talked about stickers and choc rewards again so might do that for a few days to see if that gets DC1 back on track but really was wondering if anyone had any ideas why i'm getting a NO to going to the potty and then accidents quickly follow and also if this is normal in a child of this age (2.9)?
thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Forget it and move on in a calm way. It is a blip.Carry on with what you did before. It worked and you'd done well.

One thought...never ask if you would rather not have NO as an answer..." time for wee wee now" is better than "DO you need a wee wee"

Mind you, that goes for EVERYTHING!!

Even with my teenagers!

Set the table please
not
Would you set the table for me please?

lol

Thanks Mrs P
i feel the same but couldn't put my finger on why the drastic change.
Will do as you suggest and keep on mentioning stickers / chocs to keep him on track!
Now we only have the joy of half term to get through!

It's normal, it's a blip. Calm, carry on, whatever worked before. DD did it, almost like 'I've done that, I'm not bothered anymore'. We had to convince her that it was something she had to continue to do. Couple of weeks later she was utterly dry again.

Sometimes a poorly tummy can also make them regress a wee bit. Their normal messages that they need to go can be interrupted by an irritated bowel/urinary tract.

SOH thanks for that. i think you're very right about the upset stomach - a day later he was back on track - just a slight panic from me as he was doing so well and i think i'd taken that for granted.
i still take a change of clothes everywhere we go though, just in case!
