arrggh - abject failure potty training

sigh - my dd is not far off 3 years old. She has always maintained no interest in potty training, though she likes owning her pants and putting them on her dolls...

Over the last two weeks I have gently got her used to the idea that she is going to get to wear her pants and to use the potty (asnd there was mention of chocolate buttons) Right up until last nigiht she appeared to know and agree that this would happen this morning.

When I tried to put her pants on this morning, she went mad, sobbing and saying 'no mummy' over and over. I would have had to wrestle her into them, and obviously I don't want it to become a massive trauma. It does seem like time we did it though.

She's in a nappy now, which feels like failure, but she was unpersuadable that it was anything other than torture to put pants on this morning.

Should I have insisted? What shall I do now?

All tips gratefully received.

Don't put pants on - leave her bare bottomed. Turn the heating up, let her run around naked. Far easier than faffing with pants.

ooh - good idea. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks.

  • good luck! I hate potty training, so hope it is quick!!! Don't panic if it takes a few days to get the hang of it!
