I think needing a wee is waking my 2.6yo DS up at 5am...

DS has been waking at 5-5.30am consistently for the past 3 weeks, and his nappies are always dry in the mornings.

He's been dry in the day for 6 months of so, and I'm starting to suspect it might be a full bladder that wakes him. This morning he woke at 5.30am, I went in with him to try to settle him back down, at 6am he climbed out of bed and went to the bathroom to use the potty. DH went with him, then took him back to bed where DS slept for another 1.5 hours.

Which is why I think that's what's waking him - he's very conscientious about not wetting himself during the day, and is consistently dry in the day.

So, I was thinking of trying to get him to go on the potty when we go to bed. Has anyone had experience of this working? I'm pg and these early starts are killing me

To could try limiting drinks after 6.00 pm and putting him on the potty at bedtime. Didn't work for my ds but worth a try .

Thanks, Fran, we already do both of those. I guess he just can't hold it from 7pm to beyond 5.30am... NOt sure I could, either!

I would rather help him to use the potty in his bedroom. What he's doing is GOOD, he just needs to be independent with it. It won't last long. DS is in 2 weeks and he now gets up in the morning and uses the toilet, then comes back to bed for a cuddle.
