Hope someone can help what is fast becoming a battleground at home despite my efforts.
DS is a very stubborn character and doesn't respond well to change (took him over two months of hysteria before he settled at nursery in Sept).
He's never been interested in potty training and I don't think he realised when he was weeing up until a few months ago so I didn't attempt to try push it. I bought pants and a potty ages ago and read him stories but he very adamantly said he wanted to stay wearing nappies.
I decided to try and have a go with him over the weekend. On Saturday he weed in his pants six times and I told him not to and he should ask for the potty. I also sat him down several times on the potty but he said he wouldn't go.
On Sunday unprompted he said he wasn't going to wee in his pants or on the floor - and he didn't. But he didn't go at all, finally at 8pm after tears and repeated bathroom visits he went. But ever since he's withheld and I've ended up putting him back in pull ups for nursery in the morning as I'm worried about potential urinary infections. He has been virtually dry all night for months now so he has good bladder control.
What should I do? Does he need more time or is it a battle of wills I have to win (like nursery). It's all getting a bit too Horse Whisperer for my liking....
