potty only with nappy on

DD is now 2.2 and has been very keen to sit on her potty for quite some time now, but only with nappy on! Since obviously nothing is happening when she does this she is losing interest again. Does anyone has tips on how ot persuade her that it would be a good idea to try to sit on the potty without a nappy?

Have you tried placing a nappy over the rim and pushed down into the potty and ask her to sit on this with a bare bottom? If she will do this, you can eventually remove the nappy altogether in gradual stages, you may even need to cut a hole in the middle of a nappy so that she is just sitting on the bit on the rim! (Get cheap ones for this.) If using cloth, just drape around the rim.

What about getting a dolls potty for her favourite doll/teddy to sit on while she sits on hers? Or invite a little friend who is happy to sit on a potty with her, and show her how it's done, and also what has been done in it? Does she see you use the loo, and would she sit on the potty at the same time?

You can improve your chances of catching something in the pot if she has a regular poo time, or if she sits on it after meals and on waking from sleeps.
