Is this a sign and if so, what do I do?

DS2 is 4 years 7 months and still needs a nappy at night. This morning at 2.42am I woke up to a crash and thought DS1 had fallen out of bed. I get up to discover DS2 has his light on and he is putting a mat on his bed. Bless him, he had wet the bed (pull up leaked) and was putting the mat on and changing his pyjamas. The bed wasn't soaking so I am surprised he woke up.

DS1 was over 7 before he was dry at night so wasn't expecting this yet.

Any advice?

TIA.

Not sure what kind of sign you mean? That he is ready to try being dry through the night?

What does he think?

Yes, that is right, that he is ready to start trying.

I haven't asked him yet. He was sick at breakfast so probably not the best idea to give him a chocolate coin for being so clever in the night. I am sure he would want to try if it means he gets chocolate but on past experience with him he thinks he should get one for trying and says he is dry when he wasn't!

Why would you give your child chocolate to "reward" him for something he has no control over?
