My DD is 2.4 and still in nappies. I've just had my 2nd DD who is now 6 weeks old so have been thinking about starting to potty train my eldest DD to try and reduce the cost in nappies each week!!!?? Only trouble is that DD REALLY doesn't care about sitting in her own mess. And i don't just mean a sodden wet nappy! Her poo's are seriously smelly (like any toddler i guess??) yet she will not acknowledge that she has done a poo. Every time i ask her if she has done a poo poo she shouts at me "NOOOOOOOOO! I DON"T LIKE POO POO!!" and refuse to have her nappy changed. ill ask her to sit on the potty like a big girl and yet again she'll shout at the top of her voice at me. "I DON'T LIKE THE POTTY!!" im trying to encourage her to sit on the potty/toilet when she's in a good mood just to introduce it to her a bit more. My friends say that she'll tell me when she's ready but im getting sick of her not wanting to be clean or acknowledging the fact that she is sat in a huge poo. Anybody else had this trouble???? Please help!!!

Still early in my opinion, it is true they will let you know when ready

My DS also 2.4 exactly the same, just won't tell me when he has done a poo in his nappy and runs away when I want to change him.

We started potty training in sessions while snowed in last week and it's getting better slowly but surely. I admit I started with him naked, bribery and TV but this was only needed for the first two days.

We have now progressed to pants and vest and he is quite practised pulling them up and down. I no longer need the bribes and he is rewarded for pooing in the potty and just claps for a wee.

We still use a nappy when out and about and for nap time as he can't get the hang of doing what he as learned while wearing trousers but I hope that will come soon.

I guess you need to decide what is best for you - either using bribery or whatever method works or waiting until she wants to. I don't think there can be any right or wrong way.
