ds 2.10 still not potty trained

Ok so we have had a few attempts at training ds who will be 3 in march. He is having none of it. He is more than ready and nursery have been going in at us for a while that he is ready. However he just refuses to do anything on potty or toilet even though I take him every 20 min. He waits until he is off then will do what he has to just as he would wearing a nappy.
So decision made come monday he is going to nursery in big boy pants. Do you think this is cruel? I am just going cold turkey with him and have told him nappies will be for night time only. I am just worried he will continue to do it in his pants all the time. Have we made the right decision to just go for it???

I have to say if he isn't doing it he isn't ready, it isn't all about physical ability.

Afraid you just have to wait until he's ready. Believe me, I tried so many times with DS1. He eventually got it at 3.7. All previous attempts just ended with me being stressed out and doing ridiculous amounts of washing.

i would just hold on he will eventually do it just wait till he shows hes ready and it will alljust happen all children are different. my ds was 2.5 i just helped him along a bit and after that he was fine.

My ds was 3.8 before he was trained. We tried 3 times before that and it just didn't happen (no matter what MIL says about her "getting it sorted" when he was 3.1 )

Both girls were out of nappies by age 3, ds just wasn't ready. When he was, he got it in about a day and a half! I wouldn't humiliate him by just going for "big boy pants". Do you really want him repeatedly wetting himself (or worse) in front of all his friends?

see thats what i think too but he is showing all the signs of being ready but says he loves his nappies. I think I feel pressure from nursery if i am honest but the fcat remains it is me who has tried with him and I see what happens.
2.10 is not so bad to still be in nappies surely? He has never ever once done anything in the loo or potty despite asking to go alot. He will say when he has done something in the nappy, can pull his trowsers up and down. Asks to go to toilet and so on.
So him being my first I have just been going with these signs and assume he is ready but I am just not putting the work in.
Would you ait and if so how do you know when the right time is?

Ready, willing and able; sounds like he's able - but certainly not ready or willing. I'd wait and save myself an enormous amount of hassle (and if you really want to go cold turkey, at least wait till it warms up a bit - wet pants in this weather is not fun)

Sorry crossed posts - no I really do not want him wetting himself or getting upset about it when I am not there. Just feeling pressure from nursery who have said to send him in pants and they will deal with it on Monday as they feel he is ready. I just want my little boy to be happy but also dont want top be holding him back if i am getting it wrong
