DD started potty training yesterday, she is 2.2 yrs old. I thought she was ready as she telling me when she had been a poo and was copying me by sitting on the potty when I used the toilet.

However today she hasn't weed since I took her nappy off when she got up.

She will happily pull down her trousers, knickers and sit on potty but nothing is happening, not even on the floor.

She also didn't poo yesterday or today.

Would you stop and put nappy back on?

I would personally put a nappy on as withholding wee might be dangerous.

Has she been since you posted?

Just potty training DD2 at the minute and she quite consistently does nothing all am, I think probably as she hasn't drunk all night and has wee'd in her nappy b4 getting up. I opted not to put the nappy back on and she seems to be using the potty fairly happily in the pm.

Hi there, my DS is 2.7 and we started potty training yesterday- he too witheld wee til mid-afternoon. I think he had done a wee in night time nappy and then didn't really have alot to dring in the am. He did wee on rug in aft- I was making tea and took my eye off the ball, and then an hour later told me he was weeing and I placed hin on potty. I don't think they can hold it that long if they really wanted to go...and holding it a little while is surely part of the training ie/ bladder control. I'm more worried re: DS and his poo- none yesterday and none so far today...

hello there. my ds 2.6 is pretty much dry in the day now but he did this with his poo.
alot of people withhold drink so there arnt many accidents but i think thats bad, ply her with drink you will get extra oppertunity to PT and she wont hold it in much longer. watch out for signs that PT is upsetting her she may not be ready and at such a difficult stage you dont want to distress her.
when it comes to poos we did for a little while put a nappy on as i was told it could cause constipation.
we looked back at when we started PT and a friend of mine freaked out when my ds had a poo on the carpet that worried him, he thought he had done wrong and was a bad boy. it took us months to sort out and get him to understand its ok to poo, what im saying is you need to be really relaxed about the whole thing lots of praise, maybe when she just does a wee (if in the pot or not) iyswim
