DS3 is 2yrs 10 months and has started potty training. Bare bummed he is perfect sits on potty every time but as soon as I put a pair of pants on him he is very hit and miss... more miss.
We just cant seem to move past this stage and was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice?
Also he starts playschool this week and I think the best option for the moment would be a nappy when hes there. Would this confuse him too much do you think?

we had this too mel its frustrating and you dont see there will ever be an end.
we always let him bare bum because it was easier but then they cant go out like that so you do have to practice pants and trousers at home.
just like when you first started potty training you are gonna be on your feet alot assisting. never be negative! always praise and if he misses just say 'we will get it in the potty next time' its been 7 months for us and hes dry during the day.

Hi Mel,

My son was the same when we first tried to PT him. He was fantastic with both wee and poo when he had nothing on his bottom half but as soon as we put anything on his bum he forgot about the potty (despite being reminded!). We stopped trying after a couple months because I had terrible morning sickness and couldn't cope with the accidents! We started again just before Xmas and he was dry during the day within 3 or 4 days. Poos are another matter but that's a different thread! So what I'm saying is that maybe you could try again in a few weeks, or persevere and accept that it may take a bit of time before he gets it?

As pinchme says, lots of praise if he does go in the potty or toilet and don't make a fuss if there are accidents. We found chocolate buttons as a reward very effective too!
