Potty-trained 3 year old pooing in nappy at night

A week or so before her third birthday my daughter announced that she was going to use the toilet. She did. Not one accident, no cajoling, no star charts, no fuss. Although she was reluctant, we carried on using nappies at night because her nappies were usually sodden in the morning and I thought it might be too much.

A few months later, after a particularly nasty bout of S&D, she became incredibly constipated. This led to her becoming fearful about opening her bowels. We sought advice from the GP and eventually put her on movicol for a while which got things going again.

However, she now poos in her sleep at night. Stools are soft and she says she doesn't experience any discomfort. So why this seemingly retrograde step? It's disrupting her sleep - and ours! We've tried sitting her on the loo before bed but she gets really upset and nothing happens.

Any similar experiences out there? Any advice?

How long has this been going on?

The bout of S&D was in May. She has been to the loo on occasion, but poos in nappy at least three times a week.
