I want TMI !!- two year old's poo. What yours like?

I am thinkking about potty traing my ds as he can tell me when he wants to poo/wee etc. problem is he only ever does soft mushy poo/practically diarrhoea every time. He has never done any solid poo.

He is allergic to milk so doesn't have any but i am now wondering if he is allergic to something else. the doctor says he won't investigate as no rash or other symptoms although he is under weight.

So I want to know if this is normal and if so isn't potty training a nightmare?

My ds's poo is the same (2.10). Hope to start potty training before he's 3 but the poo issue is putting me off, quite frankly! Not allergic to anything as far as I know, and not sure what to do about it so will be watching this thread with interest!

my no-dairy boy has fairly soft poo too

it isn't really runny in a diarrhoea way, but it's def soft.
ds1 was prone to constipation though, so i can't really compare them.
I often suspect that actually ds2's would form a poo-shape, but by the time i get to them he's sat in them and squished them about (sorry way TMI!!)

Toddler's Diarrhoea

DS1, almost 7, still has very lose poo.
DS2, almost 6, eats far more fuits than his brother, but remains Mr Constipated .

Bowel transit times are largely genetic. Obviously diet will influence the consistency of poo one way or the other, but the rest...

Get a potty where you can remove the actual potty-bit IYKWIM for easy cleaning. I used to shower ours out and clean the bath before bathtime every night...

btw, it's not something tha thas ever worried me, and i don't think it should put you off potty-training

thanks for advice.
Its not putting me off potty training really, more concerned whether it was normal or whether i should investigate this first and wait for potty training, as wondering more whether he would be able to hold on for a few seconds to get to the potty if poo was too soft.

its just I was given anti biotics soon after he was born which weren't safe for bfing and it really upset his stomach for a long time and am sure its the root of his milk allergy and just wanted to know about other toddler's poos

thisisyesterday When I say "putting me off" I don't mean I'm going to consider delaying training (particularly once he shows signs of being ready, which i'm sure will be soon), just that I'm reeeeally not looking forward to the inevitable 'accidents'

Bloody massive and solid it worries me how a small dc can produce something of that size. I can flush it down the loo, so it doesn't sit in the nappy bin

usually very soft and smelly, though sometimes properly formed. also milk-allergic - apparently (according to the link earlier) toddler diarhoea more common if they're having a low fat diet, so maybe dairy-free diet is the cause?? However dd only goes once a day not multiple times as described on the link (excuse typing)

ds (2 in Jan) varies hugely from day to day. Sometimes little rabbit poos, sometimes huge well formed ones that are normal, othertimes disgustingly squashed and smeared all over everything inside the nappy.

DS is 2y8m and seems to alternate - one proper poo (formed and in one piece) followed by one very soft mess, definitely not diarrhoea but needs to be contained by a nappy iykwim.
We are potty training at the moment, touch wood only a couple of poo incidents so far!

My toddlers poo is like that - just a big squishy mass! I found the bit about too much juice interesting on that site. DS loved water, always has done, but I must admit tends to have juice now in place of just water. He does love Milk too, but he hardly eats anything at all. I do notice that his poo is much much worse if he has had bread or wheat/bran based cereal.

Casting my mind back to when DD was small, her poo was often a v. soft squidgy mass - made a right mess in her nappy.

But, I think some of the squidge factor was down to it being in the nappy and getting sat on etc. and so broken up and squashed around.

When she pooed on the potty it all seemed to hold it's shape a lot better - even though it was still pretty soft when it came to trying to scoop the damn stuff out of the potty.

Quite soft here! Put a bit of loo roll in bottom of potty first if you think poo is likely?! Get flushable wipes too. Or maybe try to use the proper loo instead.

V soft here too - but DD eats a lot of fruit. I've been worrying about potty training too.

Which anti-B's were you prescribed? Making me wonder now as I had metranidazole when DS was 1 week old (and BF) - he has eczema and vomiting and we suspect dairy allergy.
