Never had a problem with nappy rash, but since potty trained.....

Anyone else had this problem? DS's arse always looks red and sore now, he often complains it is sore. I'm cleaning him with wet wipes (wet with water), then putting bepanthan on like I always did.

How can he be sore now that he never has a nappy on?

Is he still in a nappy at night?? Is he in big boy shorts/underward during the day? Cause little boys can 'dribble' little bits of wee randomly to kinda test if they really need a wee before they go to the potty/toilet & that wee could Make them sore if ya didnt c/feel it before ya pull up the shorts, my Ds1 is 3.2 & i still change his shorts durin the day a few times a wk he's not havin accidents jus these little wet patches... And iv worked as a childminder & hav seen the same with other toddlers... For cleaning Could you try cotton wool and water instead of wipes after a poo and pat dry with a 'bum cloth' maybe? I use bepanthen too and find it great but if its not working mayb he needs something stronger in case its thrush? It'd be worth gettin your g.p to have a look if its been going on a while and is hurting him poor baby. HTH

I'm not using proper wipes at the moment but a wet cloth to clean him, then drying him before putting cream on. I'm only doing that after a poo though. It hadn't crossed my mind that it might be something other than nappy rash, perhaps it is thrush. What would thrush look like?

Well my Ds1 is only just over it! Dono how they get it but he was very red all around his 'bummy hole' for days and then he got little spots with little white tops i used dactarin cream (from g.p) twice a day and bepanthen after a poo (i clean him da same way as yourself) and his bum was totally fine 5days later! Ya thrush can flare up when they are teething or after having had antibiotics too, dono why my baba got it tho... Some one on here also gave me the name of sumit else it could possibly be and told me to google it... Well that frightened da pants offa me so i jus took him to the doc jus in case...
