wet knickers after school every day help!

Im struggling with my dd almost 5, she has been dry since age 2 but since school we are struggling, I have tried talking to her about having wet pants/star charts etc but she is just so disapointed every day after school. Teacher is reminding her its almost like she holds until last possible moment. Any tips, feel like we have tried everything and am so worried she is going to get called smelly etc.

Can you get a kitchen discrete timer that vibrates every hour (or as often as you feel is necessary) and she can keep it in her pocket, when she feels it buzzing, she knows to go.

could she be holding on to her wees because she is scared to have a poo at school?

My constiapated daughter witholds her wees as she is frightened that a poo may come out when she goes for a wee.

has the doctor ruled out infections etc? i would combine the timed toilet trips with a sit down and talk to her about hygeine and stuff. i would also have her wear pullups/trainer pants untill she has kept dry consistantly for an agreed period between school ,her a you. combine this with a shoping trip to by special big girl underwear and remind her exitedly she will get to wear these when she keeps dry again. if dealt with carefully the other children wont notice and its more discrete than wetting her clothes. you will get there. sometimes a step back is a step forward, especaily if a developmental issue like this crops up with a child.

DD was exactly like this and it was a physical problem, not behavioural.

I'd also suggest checking out whether she has a urine infection, or whether she is looking red/sore. DD's turned out to be vulvitis and as long as I keep that at bay she's fine. As soon as it flares up she starts to have accidents at school and it would sometimes develop into a urine infection - although mostly it didn't.

I definitely wouldn't go back to pull ups, and I would be really careful about trying to say she could have a reward if she keeps dry, in case it isn't something she has any control over.

true i agree with the reward thing if its phisical and she has no controll over. however by the same token keeping her comfortable and dry and sparing others seeing accidents is worth a thought especialy if it is something she has to live with for a while.

ds2 was frequently wet in reception.
It turned out, he didn't like the toilets, they smelt and he didn't like hearing anyone else go to the loo, so he would try not to go all day.
Have you asked your dd if there is a problem with the toilets or if there is a reason she doesn't like to go during school?

yep if its that get a teaching assistant to call her asside at variouse points in the day and take her to use a nice staff or disabled toilet elswhere in the school the other kids dont need to know why, and if she can do this independantly it could be covered by her running a note to another teacher or taking the register to the office.
