Any suggestions for protecting car seats, chairs etc while potty training is going on?

I don't mean for the bed, I mean for DS to sit on when he's in his car seat or on a chair in a restaurant etc....
Mothercare had some washable ones but they were £16! A bit too pricey, IMO.
Anyone any other cheaper, but effective ideas?
TIA.

I had a "piddle pad" for the car seat.
I think I got it on ebay for about £5.

TBH we never really needed it.

How old is he? The DSs were still in highchairs in restaurants when we did potty training.

He's 2.5 and hasn't sat in a highchair anywhere for months.

i used the pampers change mats cos they could be binned if we were away on long journey, they never once had an accident in the car tho!

I used a towel or the disposable papmpers bed mats or change mats, only needed them a couple of times when dd fell into a really deep sleep in the car.
