sorry if i am being really really stupid but do they go on top of the sheet or underneath?

I think either way really, if you want them to protect the sheets then obv. it'd have to go on top, but I think most people use them as a mattress protector. They don't really take much wee though I don't think, which I suppose is a good thing as it'll wake your LO up if there's an accident.

I do sheet, bed mat then another sheet. Then if she's wet, you just need to remove the top sheet and the bed mat. Mind you, that is for a 5.8yr old who has a few wet nights every so often.

As you're just starting, I would consider putting another bed sheet on top too, as they tuck under a bit and let her sleep on top of that. The all you need to do is remove that when it's wet and you've still got another layer incase she's wet again.

Less disturbance for her.
