I'm about to start toilet training DS who is 2.7 but don't know whether to use a potty or go straight to a toddler toilet seat?

What do you recommend?

Potty easier IME, more portable, you can have it in front of the TV etc (for bribing ).

DS2 didn't need toilet seat at all, amazingly he got the knack of balancing immediately.

Neither of my two would use a conventional potty, so I got one of those that is more like a little chair, with handles and a removable pot where the wee goes. Much easier to start with as it is portable round the house, then when they got the hang of it I used a removable toddler loo seat. The best one I found was by First Years (I think), it was padded and again had little handles which made them feel more secure.

we only used a potty for pees with ds standing up and me holding the potty up in front of him. He used the toilet pretty much from the start and didn't have a toilet seat. You do have to strip them from the waist down so they can get their legs wide enough to balance.
