Potty training regression after a good start, will it click?

So we started potty training about 4 months ago and it took around 6 weeks to be reliably dry. He then would ask 90% of the time but otherwise I would prompt every couple of hours. However now for a few weeks he is reluctant to ask and when he does has usually dribbled a little already. For example in the 3 days he has been at nursery he has had 2 accidents but have generally been from them not taking him as he won’t ask them (I ask they take him every couple of hours if he doesn’t ask). I spoke to his key worker and she says he’s doing fine as usually shows signs when he needs a wee but won’t ask yet (goes quiet, stops playing). He can hold for a while but when he does ask me or dad it’s usually right before he needs it.

At home this morning he has already had 2 dribble accidents I think from him just being stubborn/lazy and not wanting to go. Any advice please? I want to persevere as he knows but I suppose I just want reassurance it eventually clicks 🙈😂

It definitely will click. You’re right at the beginning of the journey still, so keep calm and keep persevering and it will all be ok. It’s a rollercoaster though and we had a few regressions over the last two years but it sounds like he’s doing great!

DD is over a year into her potty training journey and we've had a frustrating couple of months with sudden dribble accidents every time she goes to the toilet. We've resorted to a panini sticker book and the promise of a sticker for every day she has dry pants. This week we have had 4 stickers and only one wet pair of pants which is a vast improvement!

TLDR; bribery is always an option 🤣

@TeddyBeans good point with the bribery. At the start we had a ‘present box’ with stickers, bubbles etc. and that seemed to help so think I will be restocking this weekend. And thank you for the reassurance it helps knowing I’m not the only one 🙈
