No interest in pooing on potty

We're 4 weeks in and DS is pretty good with wees (just the occasional accident) but has only done poos in the potty if I've literally caught him mid poo and put him on, but he can find that stressful. Otherwise he just does it in his pants when I'm not looking... It doesn't seem to bother him, he just tells me he needs cleaned up !

I know this is pretty normal but I feel like I don't know what to do next ?

He's coming up for 2.5

That is still quite young for a boy, my DS was only really potty trained at a few months after three his sister was potty trained at two.

Why not use the big toilet with a seat to adjust to his size?

I think that you just have to keep going until it clicks. I had one that did wees then it took another 2 months to be consistent with poos but it happened eventually.

Thanks we have one but I think the step we have is too small for him to be fully comfortable (he's quite small for his age). I might try a better step and see if he prefers toilet!

Yes I maybe should have started later in hindsight (it was a good time for us as both off work) but he really hates wearing nappies now (takes them off at nap time) and good with wees so I'm hesitant to give up

Perhaps try a bigger step snd see if he gets on with that?

It takes time and perseverance, some days are better than others

Always praise success and don’t worry about the accidents

It is likely walking, they stumble, fall, get up and do it again 😊

It's a myth that kids "aren't ready" if they don't take to potty training quickly. He'll get there if you keep going.
