Potty training help/suggestions

Hello all!

First time posting so a little about me & my background ☺️

I’m a mam of 4 from the North East. I have 3 boys and 1 girl. You may be wondering, why does a mother of 4 need help with potty training?!
The simple answer is I have a 15 year age gap!! 😱

After raising our boys, two into late teens/early twenties and our youngest reaching age 15, we believed we were well and truly done! Then a surprise baby girl caught us out.

She is a dream come true. My boys are all fantastic with her and she idolises them. I’m not going to lie it’s been hard…I’m 38 now. It certainly took me that little bit longer to bounce back from the night feeds etc!
She has always been very advanced and picks things up very easily. At 8 months old she started crawling, a week later she was pulling herself on furniture and very quickly learned to stand up unaided and by 9 months she was walking. Out of my four, she has definitely been the quickest in almost everything.

That brings me to the stage we are at now. She is 21 months old today.
Over the last week or so, the minute she has a wee she wants her nappy off immediately. She is constantly taking her clothes off and removing her nappy. We got a potty for her and have been encouraging her to sit on it, we’ve read books while she sits there etc but she is not overly keen on it.
She will remove her nappy, carry on with whatever she is doing and then I've noticed her panic a little bit because she obviously feels she needs to wee so she’ll go and grab a nappy for me to put on so she can do it. I have instead tried to encourage her to go on the potty but she just completely freaks out.
Last night she was getting distressed because she needed to wee so I quickly scooped her up and sat her down on the potty, she was crying and trying to get back off but actually managed to wee in the potty. Myself, her dad and one of her brothers immediately started celebrating her, clapping and telling her well done, good girl etc but she did not like it at all and continued to cry.

I am at a bit of a loss and wondered if anyone had gone through a similar situation or had any advice to offer? I don’t really feel like she is 100% ready but we are going through nappies like there is no tomorrow! 😂

I did a week of no nappies except bedtime and less clothes on the better. My son found playing with his toys whilst sitting on the potty and watching tv was fun! Each time there was a wee/poo he got a star. In the end I got a kids toilet seat with steps for the toilet and he much preferred that.
