Our twin boys are 2 years 4 months old and we have started potty training. We only started yesterday and we’ve had them bottom half no clothes and taking them to the potty every 20/30 mins. There’s been a couple of peeing accidents but they haven’t had a poo in 2 days (they usually poo twice a day).

They don’t tell me when they need to go they just pee on the potty once ive sat them on there.
I give them praise and stickers once they pee in the potty.
Is there anything else I can do?
Nursery are aware and they will be going there in 2 days.

Thanks!

The less attention you put on it, the better I found. Put them in pants and joggers and tell them to tell you when they need to go. I cleared a whole week with mine and accepted there would be lots accidents. Its better done when the weather is warm and you can play outside a lot. If you make a big deal of it, they get stressed and don't comply as much.

I used a step and put a wine cork in the toilet. They used to love hitting the target.
Poo was tricky, it took a little longer, they were inclined to hold it. I gave lactolose occasionally to make the stool a little slippery.

I also did the naked bottom half method with my eldest and now in the middle of training my 3 year old. He avoided poo for the first day until we got his sister to coach him through it. Since then if has been hit and miss. If he has trousers on he just poos in them. If he’s naked bottom half he can do it in the potty. He’s better with wee but still lots of accidents.

We’ve still got him in nappies during naps and night time and he is sometimes waiting for the nappy to go.

it sounds like they’re doing great. I’m figuring it just takes a little time
