I've got 2 ND kids, one was toilet trained just before the age of 4 and one at a bit over 4. We got a fair bit of support from the health visitors with both, although some are better than others when it comes to advice that takes into account neurodivergence.

I'm not sure there is a 'normal' when it comes to autistic kids and potty training. Don't panic though.

How much progress have you made so far? Will he use the toilet/potty at home? Both of mine hated the carry potty for some reason. Age 4 you might consider ditching the potty and just doing toilets, he's big enough.

Sounds like you might have made some progress. Try not to worry. It’s common for autistic children to struggle with potty training for a number of reasons. They can struggle to transfer skills so might use a potty at home but not at Grandparents or Nursery for e.g.

I have a similar age child at work. He uses the toilet at home and in preschool. I'm not sure he would use a potty as he has to use the same toilet always in preschool. He cannot communicate his need but he seems to have enough control that he doesn't wet himself and we take him about 30 mins after drinking and regularly during the day. If he goes out for a long period I think mum puts a nappy on.
