We have started potty training our 2 year old. We try to be consistent with asking her to sit on it but she doesn't want to sit, ever.

We started letting her be without a nappy and for a bit it seemed to work, she would go to the potty when she needed a poo and a wee.

Now, it seems to have stopped. It's like she'd rather hold it in until a nappy goes back on.

So don't put the nappy back on.

Don’t put the nappy back on and go straight to using the toilet instead of the potty. She has an example of people using the toilet to follow, but no one else will be modelling using a potty.

My 2.6 year old started potty training last week and she has been amazing. We have been following the “Oh Crap” method and she did from Tues - Fri at home indoors naked from the waist down - Tuesday she did nothing in the potty (admittedly I was a little overbearing with “do you need the potty?”) and Wednesday I relaxed and just let her take the lead and it worked. From Friday she had cracked the potty at home and was taking herself however we introduced trousers (no knickers yet) from Friday afternoon but she kept having accidents as she hadn’t recognised that she needed to pull the trousers down to go to the toilet.
We took her out over the weekend and had accidents but she returned to nursery yesterday and has done really well with only 2 accidents over the 2 days - still very early days but very proud. My advice would be to ditch the nappies completely (we only use them for nap and bedtime at the moment) and to start with bare bum to begin with and once is seems like your LO has cracked this at home, introduce loose trousers and not use knickers just yet as this can cause confusion as my daughter thought the knickers were a nappy.
If your LO is still struggling, then maybe they aren’t ready? This is my second attempt at potty training with my daughter as she wasn’t ready the first time round - we tried 2 months later and so far so good!
good luck ☺️
