Regression after starting nursery

I started potty training my child (2.5yo) 3 weeks ago. He took to it really well, and after a week he was telling me when he needed to go and going toilet every time for both wee and poo with no accidents. Dry overnight as well (wearing nappy in bed).

Started nursery this week (2 mornings 9-12) and since then he has been pooing his pants every time at home instead of using the toilet or telling me he needs to, and also having wet nappies overnight again. He has not had any wee accidents in the day. Still tells me for that.

Im guessing its a regression due to the big change? But any idea how long it usually lasts and what I can do to help?

Yes due to big changes and just not enough brain space to manage continuing a new skill as well. It will settle, just be really consistent and make sure that nursery are continuing his training while he's with them. Not quite the same, but my son turned 2yo the week before his little sister was born and at that point had been out of nappies for four months. He had about five days of accidents and then settled back to normal.
