Potty trained at nursery not home - 20 months

My 20 month old has been doing really well with using the potty and toilet at home and nursery, so nursery suggested we go for it with potty training. We did, and the first weekend at home was great, a few minor accidents but that’s about it. He also had a really successful week at nursery. Again, a few small accidents but otherwise he did everything on the potty.

We’re now two weeks in and have total potty refusal at home. He arches his back and screams if we try to put him on the potty, to the point we’ve had to put him back in nappies as it’s completely unmanageable. He’s great at nursery though.

I’m worried this is really confusing for him but unsure what else to do.

Has anyone else experienced this? And does anyone have any advice?

What are the nursery doing differently?

Is it because you're putting him on the potty rather than letting him choose when to go?

What happens if you don't put him on the potty?
