3.5 yo waking nightly due to wet nappy

My 3.5 year old is in nappies overnight having potty trained successfully last August with very rare daytime accidents.

I understand nighttime dryness is hormone related, and am in no rush to get him out of nappies, but he wakes up every night due to his nappy being wet and full and wants to be changed, and more often than not he has leaked and needs his pyjamas changing too.

No amount of restricting fluids early evening seems to make a difference, he almost always has a wee before bed, and the time he wakes is variable so hard to predict. We have sized up nappies too. The only constant is that it is pretty much every night!

Is it worth trying to take him to the loo when we go to bed and he is half asleep? Attempt 2 weeks of no nappy? Any suggestions gratefully received!

We used to lift ours from bed and sit them on the loo every night when we went to bed. They only woke up slightly and we would tell them to do a wee then wipe hands witj flannel and back to bed. Didn't ever disturb their sleep. Perhaps try that?

Waterproof mattress protector
pull ups or underwear & then take to the loo before you go to bed
