Toddler refusing to poo....

Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do.......

My little boy (3 years, 2 months) has done really well with weeing on the potty / toilet, but for about 6 months he has done a number 2 in a pull up.

Up until recently, he has started to do it in a routine where he has to have a pull up on, pants on over the top, and leans over the side of the sofa whilst playing with a car. He won't do it anywhere else, other than at home, he holds it in if we are anywhere else.

We are going away at the beginning of June for 2 weeks, and I am really worried about him holding it for that length of time and it making him ill.

I'm trying to encourage him to do it on the toilet or potty, however he is refusing. He is clearly uncomfortable and needs to go. I've tried getting him to watch TV whilst on the potty, playing with toys, sticker charts. Nothing is working.

My question is do I just continue with pull ups for now, potentailly making it worse in the long run, but then I don't want him holding it and making him ill and having issues with it further down the line.

TIA

Mine did similar until she was 4. Finally we were on holiday it was sunny and she was stroking a cat and she then just announced she wouldn’t hold in her poo anymore.

can you get him walking a lot. And then he might need to go more often.

its a control thing. He’s aware he poos now and he wants to control it and not quite sure how except by doing this.

he will figure out a way. Do you have older cousins he can spend time with ? Sorry but he will stop eventually! Might be 8 months.
