Dd is almost 3. We had a failed attempt at potty training earlier in the year. She just wouldn’t do it and got very upset so we left it.
With the bank holiday approaching and it’s set to be warm, I thought it might be a good chance to try again. She can be at home in the garden on Saturday and Sunday and hopefully it will go a bit better than last time.
However on Monday there’s an event I’d really like to go to in the city (about 45 minute drive away) which I think both dc would enjoy. Toilets may be few and far between and I don’t know if putting a pull up on her would set her back or if we should just stay home. It seems a shame. Depending on how she gets on over the weekend we could risk it with pants but it could end very badly!
How did you manage this in the early stages of potty training?

Potty trained at just turned 3. We did two weeks of no pull ups at home but let him wear pull ups out and about. After two weeks he was confident enough at home that we switched to pants out and about. Couple of accidents here and there and then he was fine. I don’t see the problem with letting them figure it out at home first and then making the switch to pants.

Towel on carseat, lots of spare pants. Mini face cloth down undies. They'll still feel the wet sensation, but it may save underwear. Take some pull ups as precaution, just incase.
Keep reminding to try for the toilet, or travel potty (although my first wouldnt use a potty, so we had to find toilets).

I only used pull ups at night when potty training, and stopped when dry. I found night naturally followed, once the day was aced. I was lucky both my dcs quickly picked it up. First wasn't ready and it didn't work in the house, so we tried again at just before 3. Second got it at 2.4. They're all different.

We managed by taking a travel potty everywhere and lots of spare clothes. Going to the toilet before we left (we call it a squeezy wee) and when we got there on the travel potty in the car.
We only use pull ups at night from the start of potty training.

We are 8 months in now...no accidents when out but the odd one at home - usually when she is too busy playing and doesn't make it to the toilet in time.

Thanks all, I’ve just bought some potty training pants on a whim after spotting them in a shop. They look and feel like pants but do have some absorption in them too. Has anyone tried these for days out etc?
