Wait until after holiday to potty train

My toddler is 2.5 year old, he is not potty trained. I have tried a few times to potty train and have not been successful. I am soon off work for a week and was going to focus on potty training during my week off. However, we are goi my abroad on holiday 4 weeks later and wondering if it would be better to wait until after our holiday to potty train.

I am a first time mum and no experience potty training. My thinking to wait was the fact we have a 5 hour flight etc and didn’t know if this would be easier in nappies or if he is trained.

I reckon you would get away with pull ups for the flight only, even if you have trained him. They seem to manage the concept of night time pull ups but pants in the day, so aeroplane pull ups would just be another exception to the norm.

I would start on your week off and it's absolutely fine to have him in pull ups on the plane. And you can take him to the toilet if he needs maybe get a travel potty that folds down.

Don't sweat it though if he has a set back it is fine.

I'd do it but take pull ups for the holiday. Mine used them for a while when I was busy and we were out the house all day but they never had any accidents once potty trained. It just saved me stressing all day.

Try on your week off but if it doesn’t go well go back into pull ups until after the holiday. Even if trained you can still use a pull up on the plane just in case.
In my experience if they’re ready and enthusiastic it happens very quickly so you could definitely get him trained before you go on holiday. Just be flexible if it doesn’t go well.

Thank you for your advice

Agree with the others, the week off would be a good time and pull ups just in case for the trip, good luck!

put the baby in “airplane pants” (nappy) for the flight anyway (and I’d do that up to about 4). Potty train as soon as you can because despite what anyone will tell you earlier is easier not harder.

We just let our child go to the potty or toilet when they wanted too we never 'pottytrained'
